Americorp Vista Job Description

                         One-Year Paid Internship

United Way is seeking to hire a full-time Community Impact Coordinator in our Woodland, CA office.

This is an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer position with a monthly stipend.  www.nationalservice.gov/programs/americorps/americorpsvista

Under the supervision of our Executive Director, the community impact coordinator will engage Woodland and rural Yolo County residents -- fellow nonprofits, educators, government officials, business executives, service organizations, and leaders of our communities-in-need -- in reducing poverty and creating lasting change.

The VISTA community impact coordinator will meet regularly with these stakeholders, identify needs, recruit volunteers, develop and effectuate collaborative projects, and organize special events.

The coordinator will:

1) attend community meetings, e.g. City Council, School Board and Chamber of Commerce, and     participate in outreach events;

2) promote the work of United Way through public speaking, press releases and a variety of multimedia;

3) update our website and social media on a regular basis.

We are looking for a college graduate who is energetic, organized, community-oriented and who is proficient in Microsoft Office and social media. We encourage our AmeriCorps VISTA community impact coordinator to live in the local neighborhood; that is, among the people we are serving in order to fully grasp and experience the community's needs.  This position requires that you have your own transportation.

If you are committed to social justice and are eager to embark on this kind of work, please send a letter and resume to:
